2025 Summer Brass Boot Camp

GET READY FOR YOUR YOUTH ORCHESTRA AUDITIONS AND SCHOOL ENSEMBLE PLACEMENTS

The Boot Camp is an intensive week of instruction, masterclasses, theory, small and large ensemble training and supervised practice for trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium and tuba players. All levels are accepted, grades 6 and up (your grade for the start of the 2025 school year),  including a new hybrid program for college students to include playing, teaching and conducting. 

 

Dates

  • Monday, August 4th through Friday, August 8th from 8:30 to 5:00 at Temple Beth Ami in Potomac, MD.
  • Thursday, August 7th will be the Faculty/Guest Artist recital in the evening; location & time TBD
  • Friday, August 8th will be the Student Recital #1in the evening; location & time TBD
  • Saturday, August 9th in the morning will be the Student Recital #2 & Finale Potluck at Geneva Presbyterian in Potomac, MD

Two Levels For Musicians

Both middle and high school brass programs will be going simultaneously and organized into two levelsBoth will share rotating faculty and will feature small ensembles, choirs, private coaching, theory, games and exercises to improve your playing abilities.

Boot Camp Blue

Blue will be focused on the older and more advanced level students.

Boot Camp Gold

Gold will be concentrating on younger and more intermediate level students.

Housing & Meals

For out of town guests, host families are available at an additional cost but inquire soon as space is limited. If you are interested in hosting please contact us as well.  Lunch may be brought in, or bought locally with an off-campus release form.

Enrollment

Space is limited so enroll now by completing the online ENROLLMENT FORM.  Your place in the camp will be reserved after completing payment. 

 

Recording (due by August 1)

Please email a recording or link of a performance which best demonstrates your skill level.  Include if possible a lyrical etude and a portion of a solo piece (not to exceed 3 minutes).  Please provide on your recording your name, age, instrument, and title of piece.  This will be used for us to prepare and assign the small ensemble groups and will not be used for admission purposes.  info@washingtonbrass.com

Monday, August 4th through Friday, August 8th:

8:30am: Arrival
8:45am-9:30 am: Group Warm-Up & Announcements
9:30am-11:30am: Small & Large Ensemble Rehearsals
11:30am-12:30pm: Lunch
12:30pm-1:30pm: Break (practice, lessons, games, rehearsal observations, etc.)
1:30pm-3:00pm: Masterclass
3:00pm-5:00pm: Small & Large Ensemble Rehearsals
5:00pm: Departure

RECITALS (REQUIRED EVENTS):

FACULTY RECITAL: Thursday, August 7th in the Evening (Call Time & Location TBA)

STUDENT RECITAL #1: Friday, August 8th in the Evening (Call Time & Location TBA)

STUDENT RECITAL #2 & FINALE POTLUCK: Saturday, August 9th in the Morning (Call Time & Location TBA)

Tuition is $799 - by May 31 (use code EARLYBIRDBRASS at checkout online)

$829 – registrations beginning June 1st; final registration deadline is August 1st.
